Can anyone tell me why I can't send an English(Barclays) cheque to Australia payable in Australian Dollars.Apparently Banks in Australia charge up to $25(about 15) to cash them. Thank You for any replies.

Does your English bank issue cheques in Australian Dollars? (OK, I know they do, but is that what *you're* asking?). Is it a refusal of the Aussies to cash this Dollar cheque that's the problem or a problem in getting a cheque in Dollars in the first place?

Do you have an Aussie Dollars account at Barclays or is it a sterling account? If AUD you can send it, however charges would be up to the individual bank in Aus as to what charge they would apply. However, if your account is in Sterling then you cannot send someone a cheque for AUD on a Sterling Cheque.
