can anyone tell me the difference between stairs and steps ?????

My suggestion would be that stairs are generally an internal feature of a building and steps are external.

I tend to agree with that but i always thought that stairs had hand rails where as steps didnt have to !!!!!
Our garden is very steeply terraced so we have lots of steps, plus a metal handrail which stops us ending up like humpty dumpties - you know, one trip and we all fall down.
Stairs of internal and have risers.

Steps are everything else.
Spiral stairs do not always have risers.
