My wife and I both work full time and have done from leaving school. Iam 51 she 46, when we retire will be entitled to a single persons pension each or do we get a married couples? (assuming there is still a pension then)

It depends whether your wife pays reduced rate national insurance - given her age I doubt it.

On current rules with you paying full NI each you will both get a full single person's pension.

The married couple's rate is where only one half of the couple has paid enough NI to claim.

if you go online to the National Insurance site and complete a form BR19 each you will receive a forecast of the amount of pension you can expect when you retire based on todays rates
