You need to put your claim in writing, listing the amounts of the charges & the dates they were applied to your account. If you don't have your statements then you could ask the bank for copies (I think they may make a minimal charge for this), or if you are registered for internet banking you could look it up on there.
These claims are being handled centrally due to high volumes.

I have calculated mine over the last 6 years and it is over �1000, alot of that was when I was on a student grant and the direct debits got missed when my grant was late, i cannot believe the hardship i was under then compared to now, just 5 years later! It is very annoying.
you need to detail you account number, the dates, and amounts you have been charged. you can order copy statements as far back as when the account was opened. the letter needs to be in the form of a complaint. most complaint procedures have a specific time period in replying to you so it might not be as long as you think
