Vat is the same for everyone, except certain exceptions such as disabled equipment that is soley going to be used for a diasabled persons benefit. You couldn't, for example get 17.5% off your choccie biscuits in the supermarket because you are a student
Sorry, I meant income... Sadly, i'll have to do 2 x 20hr jobs a week on top of my 30hr week course.... WORKING EVERYDAY FOR TWO YEARS!!!!! But 2 years will fly by... just worried that my work will suffer very badly as I'll be exhausted.
I heard that I would have to pay 22% income tax, or thereabouts, on my second job.... which is totally unfair.
Jeanette, hard work and sacrifice brings much success. Would you rather live in a council house with 12 children?
All the experience and hard work will build character and help make you a stronger and better person. I'm very proud of you. And trust me, you are not the only one working two jobs to pay for your education. You have a choice, stay home and sleep and live off the system or make sacrifices to be a better person and make something of yourself.
In the end you will be happy and it will worth your while you went through all this.
If you work less than 52 weeks in a year you may be able to claim some of the tax back. You would have to contact your tax office. But really, many of us have had two jobs, one full time and one part time and had to pay income tax on them both. I know I have. Students really aren't any different,.
