My husband is considering becoming a WVM on a Self Employed basis for TNT in the New Year. Although being self employed before has anyone got any comments regarding this new opportunity (inc. existing drivers). Many thanks and happy New Year to all.

Not recommended:

Why?
1. Couriers have one of the highest insurance rates on a par with taxi drivers.
2. TNT usually sub contract jobs to local courier firms.
3. The profits after paying for your van, tax, etc are minimal.
4. Depending on where you live will meet very high traffic problems.
5. Most profits are made, not from long distance trips, but from multiple drops into large cities on a Friday when they are trying to clear their stock.

He will never make a decent living unless he has multiple drops so that time and fuel costs can be reduced.
