Can anyone recommend a compensation company.

My son was involved in a car accident on New Year's Eve, he was a passenger in a taxi, he has suffered fractured jaw and cheekbone, very bad black eye, loss of earnings etc but nothing that won't heal thank goodness, he's very lucky.
Is it worth using one of thees companies that advertise to help you with compensation or is it better to do it yourself?

Either do it yourself or use a local solicitor.

Check your home insurance to see if you are covered for legal expenses through them.

As Fay says, use a solicitor or do it yourself. I would advise against using one of the companies that advertises help with compensation as they take a massive chunk of the compensation.

Use a local solicitor who does personal injury litigation. Ignore that stuff you get from the outfits that advertise in the media , such as 'the costs are paid by the other side's insurers" , as though they are offering something special.They aren't: that example is as true of your local solicitor doing it as it is of them. Remember that, whatever they say, those firms are out to make money somewhere and are prepared to pay for national TV and radio advertising out of the profits.Who pays for that? The clients.These firms must hope to generate an enormous amount of business (so how personal is that service?) One thing that strikes me is that the sums their clients say they received as 'compensation' seem sometimes remarkably low.That suggests that these outfits settle for far less than they should, to get quick turnover, which, if so, is not a reason to go to them!

From the description of the injuries , it would appear that this is not a simple ' Whiplash ' injury .

Medical evidence , will have to be commisioned , to support your claim for injuries , sustained , and any report must be done by an expert , complying with the
( CPR ) Civil Procedure rules - Personal Injury protocols - before a compensator will usually make any offers of settlement .

Therefore I would not suggest you try and deal with the claim yourself ; but instead seek professional assistance .

As been said above , try and instruct a firm of solicitor (s) who have a specialist Personal Injury Team .

There is no reason why you should not get all of the compensation agreed by the compensator plus reasonable costs, paid - if the solicitor states that they wiil be taking a 'cut' of the compensation , then walk away and find another firm .

As for the amount of compensation you will get - this depends ( amongst other things ) on the nature of the injuries sustained and the prognosis for recovery - and to a large extent on how robust your solicitor is , in pursuing your claim

Given that he was a passenger , he will have no difficulty on the liability side as he is an ' innocent ' party - his claim will either be dealt with by the insurers of the taxi , or the insurers of the other vehicle .
