what does the NONCU mean

Could anyone tell me wht the NONCU stands for after my tax code please, my tax code is 522l NONCU. thatnks in advance,

Sounds like it's another name for month 1 or week 1 basis - 'non-cumulative' is probably the expansion.
it does mean non cumulative which means you are not on the correct tax code.the code you have means that you are taxed on a week to week basis. any previous earnings are not being taken in to account. if you have had any gaps in employment or p45 details have not been sent in this could be the reason. call your tax office nd ask them

thanks. I am guessing this is because i have started a new job after 16 years gap looking after my children, and I would imagine that they will change it when everything gets sorted.
Yes that would be why. After a long gap the employer does not have any details to go on. If you call your tax office and explain the situation they can take the details over the phone and update your record this you will then receive and new coding notice and so will your employer.If the code does not change in time you may not get refunded through your wages if this is the case then when you receive your P60 after April you can send it to your tax office with a covering letter to reclaim any tax overpayment.
