if the original company decided to up your monthly payments, it's not because they waNT you to paay more for your fuel, rather that you haven't paid enough. It is then safe to assume you have a debit with them. of course it's right if you are terminating your contract with them, that they will expect full payment of any arrears. From what i read in your question, if you do have a debit with them, they are asking you to pay for electricity you have already had, whereas the new company are asking you to pay for electricity you are having now, so not paying 2wice for the same product
