my dad is in the process of putting my partner on his deeds,we are just waitng for the papers to be drawn up, his wife left him for someone else,so he got into arrears on his morgage. My partner is paying off my dads debts which amount to over 15000k and doing up his house as it is falling apart. Now he has took his wife back how will this effect us?

Its such a difficult one to answer.

Have you spoken to your dad about your concerns?  Thats where I would start and see what he says.  I would hope that your partner has kept records of his money paid to help your dad?  It wasnt actually secured on anything so in theory your father doesnt have to repay.  Putting him on the deeds only shows he has an interest in the property and it would be another battle should he want his share out because he would have to force a sale which is very expensive and not always successful.  I know that my husband was put in his exs deeds so she could raise finance and he paid even after he left her, she has now asked for him to come off and he really has no right to any of the equity but is still jointly liable for the property while he is still on the deeds.  Very complicated, very expensive and not advisable unless you have a very good solicitor who will put you in the picture if it should all go wrong.

As far as your dads ex coming back, unless she is on the deeds I cant see how she can stop your dad doing anything.  Of course she may use her womanly charm to dissuade him????
