Went to deposit a cheque and cash into HSBC and got told that as i put them both through together i couldnt have my cash till the next day. Anyone know why and wheere does it go and why doesnt the cash show up that i have deposited money till the next day

Because it was put through as one transaction there is no differentiation between the cash part and the cheque therefore it all has to wait until the cheque clears. Next time pay it in seperately, cash on one slip and cheque on another, you should then have access to the cash immediately.
If you were paying in cash I don't understand why you were concerned that you couldn't take it out again straight away? I guess the answer is don't pay in the cash if you need to use it that day.
If you needed the cash on the same day I'm puzzled as to why you paid it in in the first place. But the general point is a good one- if there is a long clearing time on a cheque you are paying in, the bank should advise you to pay any cash in as a separate transaction.
By the way I see you've posted the full question in the title box. I assume you didn't get a box to enter your question. You probably have been logged in to AB since before the new AB changes were finalised. You need to log out of Answerbank completely, clear the cache on your browser (Internet, tools, delete..) , then log back in and everything should work.
Maybe he likes to pay for things on his Debit Card as it's easier to book keep.
