I am a single mum of a one year old. The father is Bulgarian and left when my son was 6 weeks old, he showed no interest in either of us. I have received no financial or emotional help from him and heard nothing until a few weeks a go when I received a couple of emails. bulgaria join the EU in january so he will be able to come to the Uk when he pleases. this worries me as I dont trust him at all and would rather he had no contact with my son as he is not a very nice person at all and will only be a negative influence on my son whom I love very much. his name is not on the birth certificate so what legal rights does he have regarding access? i would never leave him alone with my son as I wouldnt trust him not to snatch him, even though he clearly has no love for him. its a very tricky situation for me and I would like to know where I stand before and if I respond to his emails.

if i was you i would go to a solicitor asap and explain your circumstances. you say his name is not on the birth certificate but if he wants a dna test he could prove the child is his that way. i really hope things work out well for you and your son and i hope this man doesnt become a pest to you both. good luck

Whoa!! I think categorising ALL Bulgarians as criminals is a bit strong?? And as for sending 'heavies' to bump him off seems a tad harsh!
I too would definately get legal advice first, and perhaps put family and friends in the picture too, just in case? x
