Are youlikely to go into care in the near future?
I am not sure there are any ~ although there may be a scam somewhere!

Who should pay for your care if the need arises?
Distribute your cash offshore
If you have siblings, make the house over tothem, there is no time limit to this, but do it through a solicitor, ensuring you have right of tenancy as long as you wish.
Why shouldn't the Government take your money and assets? If you need to go into care and you can afford to pay for it, then you should.

I would love for my parents to leave me shed loads of money and if they died today, they would. Being realistic, one or both of them are likely to need care that I can't give in the future and therefore I expect my 'inheritance' to pay for it.

Why should the Government pay god knows how much per week to keep you when yoy have thousands (if not more) hidden away?
I agree with CheekyChops. An aunt of mine is paying 525 a week for care in a nursing home. She's lucky - it could be even more, but if a person has the means to pay, then so they should.
Why should you spend all your life acquiring a few possessions & cash only for the Government tocome along and take the lot, perhaps you should be ******** and p**s it all up against the wall, & then get the state to pay for everything, as many Council Tenants/ Benefit Living people tend to do. Those of us who have worked all our lives with NO assistance from the State whatsoever deserve a little respite
The Government are very good at handing out wads of cash to many undeserving cases in this country, so I have no qualms in trying to preserve my assets!!
I agree with amster on this one. healthcare costs are so high that the average worker's assets would not make much of a dent in the overall scheme of things.

I too (U.S) am sick of living in a sanctuary city that hands out money and homes with no regard to citizenship or abilty to work. I will do everything to escape the gov't stealing my home and assets.

Hi
If my parents have to go into care then they will pay for it from the assets they have, and quite rightly. They will have considerbale assets, partly because they have worked hard but also because they have profitted from a huge increase in property values. I don't see that money as my "right" to have after their death, as I've never earned it, and I'd much rather they used it for care to give them a quality of life. I think it's reasonable that they should pay for the care. If they didn't, then the people paying for it would be you and me through taxes.
The vast majority of people never need to go into care anyway, so it probably won't affect you.
You have to pay if have more than 21.500 , when thats gone the state pay .
I agree with one or two of the sentiments above if one can afford to pay then one shud pay.
Me im spending the whole darned lot on the missus and I we worked for it all our lives and we are going to reap the benefits of it.
I have a paid up policy to deal with our funerals as for the care home well i reckon having seen some of em i would rather live the rest of my life in a cardboard box.
