38 Answers
Have spoken about my mum before about her need to buy and hoard useless objects and buy me food that i dont either want or like, its getting worse i keep trying to tell her that i dont like tinned sardines or cheapo tomato soup, and out of date stuff, but she has turned up today with tomato soup and crisps that are out of date, and this hideous giant bratz alarm clock, that a eight year old would relish, obviously got from a boot sale,i was at work so these items were in ther kitchen when i arrived home what can i do???

Back in 1971 we bought our first house and then my husband went on short time at work and I was at home with my daughter so we were really skint. We were managing okay but economising and one day my mother-in-law brought some butter round because her son wasn't brought up to eat margarine!!
Possibly boo,but when you have had cast offs from charity shops, electrical items several times over that have come from a boot sale, clothes that are too small, catering packets of packet soups, sardines, gloopy soups, those stinkin cheese sandwich biscuits, tuc ryvita and crackers by the bucket load,a excersise machine that makes your bum wiggle,a hairdrier that exploded in ure face, enough batteries to power a submarine, cheapo light bulbs, out of date crisps, and biscuits, enough toilet rolls for you build a barracade and 19 bottles of washing up liquid,7 packets of macaroni,15 tins of tinned tuna mayo witha lime dressing,6 bottles of extremely powerful worcester sauce, and 11 bottles of some budweiser marinade you have to say enough is enough!!!
Bless her - she sounds lovely, a bit like my my mum. Annoying but "it's only because she cares".
She seems to have a thing about clingfilm. My sister & I have acres, yards, tubes of the damn stuff. And tin foil. She buys in industrial-sized tubes off a market stall - we have enough between us to wrap up the entire contents of an Adams pork pie factory.

Smile and be grateful. Bung it the bin when she has gone .
I can remember my Mum doing similar things .Wish she was still around to annoy me really .
I have just lost my beloved Mum in Law too .Wish she was still here too. She used to clean my house when they came over from Germany .I was forever grateful as I was slogging at work :)
They are a long time gone and who knows what we will be like .I am getting to stage where my sons groan when I ask one if has his thermals on when it's cold and the other one if he is eating properly :)

I know ladies but our family is extremely split and she hasnt exactly been close to any of us,i defend her with my other siblings though, all i see now is a very elderly frail lady that still is trying to make up for what she has caused i think,if i ever challenge anything she gets upset so i just leave it!!!
