12 year old daughter started periods yesterday

Blame my Brain by Nicola Morgan is a great book for teenagers and their parents - it's not so much about the physical changes, but about how teenagers brains change and it helps them and their parents understand why they feel/act in certain ways.

i should of explained more clearly in my post yes of course i have spoken to my daughter about periods for god sake im not stupid i have been through all this with my 18 year old daughter before, she knows all about it , i just thought some books of her own for her to read would be good as she is a book worm and could read at her leisure.
jemisa i know shes not a baby and i dont treat her like one i was mearly saying she is the baby of the family in a jokey fashion to zac who joked saying it will be boys next

Also if she's a bookworm, get her Are You There God, It' s Me Margaret by Judy Blume. It's a novel about a teenage girl who is desperate to start her periods to be like her friends. I read it when I was around that age and I just gave it to my 13 year old daughter who loved it. It's not as technical as a non fiction book about biology, but it is taken from the girl's point of view - wanting to be a woman but still being a little girl. I remember when I read it I just felt NORMAL! I couldn't really talk about all that stuff with my friends without us getting all giggly or someone being all snooty with us and pretending to have all the answers - but the girl in the book felt just how I did!
