Is soya milk available as a prescription item?

I have been told that there is a possibility that soya milk as an alternative to dairy is available on the NHS for my daughter who is dairy intolerant........big time! Can this possibly be true?

Dont think so,one of our ladies is on soya at cerrtain times of the day,and their isnt any prescriptions...

How old is your daughter? Mine was prescribed soya formula when she was only a few months old, but then we were told it wasn't nutritionally complete for a child who was not on any solids. Soya formula is definitely available on prescription, but soya milk won't be.

I think that answers the query as my girl is 22 months and obviously soya milk as a complete diet would not be the case for her!

A guy I used to work with had a gluten intolerance. He got all of his (gluten-free) bread on prescription. So I see no reason why soya milk shouldn't be available in the same way. She could also have soya formula at that age, my daughter is now on hypo-allergenic formula because she is allergic to milk protien, she is 26 months old and expected to be on formula until she's 5

Thanks for correcting me Chris, it seems that not many people know that, including a friend of mine who was recently diagnosed with a milk allergy.
