i know teenagers have a habit of lax hygene and tidyness but i find my step-daughters minging behaviour beyond acceptable standards.

like me when i was 15 its messy bedrooms, leaving clothes draped around, leaving cups out etc.

her bedroom is often festooned with various cups displaying levels of bacterial growth etc. but what i witnessed yesterday was period stained pants discarded on the bedroom floor, a couple of pairs. often used tampons will be rolled up in their packaging and left of the toilet cistern. maybe its my fault because i chucked the bin out of the bathroom long ago.

does anyelse witness this level of filthyness? she's in her last year at school, takes no pride in her appearance and has always been lazy/dirty.

BOO....I have an 18 year old daughter.
i'm with you boo !!!!
i totally agree with you there Boo ive just told her that if she cant keep it tidy then i wont be doing anything nice in her bedroom in the future!!!! other than that she is a very nice person(hardly moody and wants to help elsewhere!!!) its just like she cant be bothered with her own stuff???
Well you're obviously a better parent than I was and am then Ummmm, as no amount of trying to reasonably talk to mine would achieve anything.

<shrug>
My concern would be more about the personal hygiene than the state of her bedroom. You also have to take into account that she's sharing with a 5 year old...
there was mention of her mum i wonder if the child in question lives with her for the majority of the time and if so is she different at her mothers???
BOO....her room, as is the boys, sometimes a tip. If they were told to tidy it they would. Sometimes not very well (as in shoving everything under the bed) but to not get in the shower....seriously. Was your daughter walking round smelly? Would you let that happen?
BOO....yeah! probably did. But with ours, only one needed a "good smack" the others saw,I presume, what might happen to them, so they behaved, but still got "Ooooh! Dad, why?" and my stock answer....."Cus I sed so"
zzxxee...he's living with the Mother...
I'm with B00. I get the impression that the minute I open my trap this glazed look appears which says "what the f are you on about now you stupid old bag" and either ends up with me wasting my breath or her storming off in a strop. They are a funny creatures teenagers. Not sure which bleeding heart liberal we have to thank for stopping them going up chimneys but I could roundly slap him (I jest of course).

OH and teenagers think ALL adults are stupid. lol.
Well no, she wasn't smelly, but that might be i just never noticed- she spent 23 n half hours a day sleeeping in her cesspit ;-)
he ummm??? i thought it was a girl im confused now
sqad, you can't smack 15 year old kids.
they do sleep a lot when they hit the latter part of teen years dont they lol
zzxxee, ummm means he (Snafu) is living with the girls mum.
The OP is Male and the stepdad. He lives with the Mother of the teenager and also has a child of his own with her. That's what I've read anyway..

If it was just a weekend thing then I'd be inclined to suggest other things. But to have another child have to live like this is not acceptable and at 15 should have more respect for other people living in their house...
Mine still would do zzxxee, she was on phone this morning saying my grandson only let her have 4 hours sleep last night, its killing her- rofl.
What do you mean the "latter part of teen years". Ours is only 13 and sleeps for England. If we didn't wake her up 15 times she would stay in bed ALL day! It gets worse?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BOO....you dont need to if you do it when they are much younger.
Perhaps I misled you.......the eldest one had the "slaps" when he was much younger, so that when he became a teenager, he sort of , behaved and new what might be coming.
Clearly, the younger brothers also got the message.

In fact, the eldest one still is a w@nker, but luckily he is someone elses w@nker´.
my mistake snafu is the step dad what i ment was i wonder if she stays with her dad if she behaves differently??
