My friend has two children, aged 4 and 2. When they ride in the car they tend to fall asleep which I believe is pretty common? However, when my friend arrives at her destination if the kids are still sleeping she will sit in the car and wait for them to wake up, sometimes this has been nearly an hour? this seems crazy to me, I haven't asked her about this as I don't want to offend, also I don't know anything about parenting at all!!..anyway, is this normal, I mean do other parents do this and if so....why?
I always woke mine when we reached our destination (still do). Falling asleep in the car is a form of travel sickness (true folks). Most people usually grow out of the habit by adulthood but my mother and brother both suffer from it unless they're driving (which is a good thing lol)
I dont, but only because i have 3, the baby has to fit into our school runs and everything else thats going on. I do feel guilty having to wake her up all the time but I thinks kids adjust to set routines. I have also read, apparently, its not good for the baby's spine, they need to be led flat.
My little girl is just two and still has a nap in the day, if she falls asleep in the car I stay in the car once I have reached my destination until she wakes up (unless its for an appointment, then I would wake her) I enjoy the bit of peace too.
