I remember doing it to pass off having done my homework, and getting caught..... Then when I was 18 mum went away for a week and left no money for the windscreen repairman she'd booked to fox her brand new car windscreen.... sometimes cos i didn't feel able to tell my parents that i didn't want to do something (p.e. usually!!), because i didn't want to disappoint them, and sometimes cos i'd simply forgotten to get things signed when i was at home.
don't worry- tell your daugher that she can always ask you for anything, and that you will be open minded and listen to her, and remind her that it was wrong to lie, but that you understand why she did it. don't overreact!
