How many toys for a newborn?
10 Answers
We have pretty much finished the nursey for jnr when he/she arrives in 3/4 weeks but I am not sure how many toys a newborn should have?
I have about 4 soft toys, a high contrast book, a mobile above change mat and cot, a set of hand/feet rattles plus the bouncy chair and a play mat for tummy time with music/ lights etc.
Some people have bought gifts already such as dangly toys to hang on pram etc so have a couple of those too.
Would you suggest anything else? I see a lot of toys in the shops but wonder if a newborn really is too young to appreciate and understand them. A lot of our friends have said it gives them things to buy when baby arrives..
Thanks

My father died when I was twenty. My parents were social climbers and a little materialistic and image obsessed. It is funny if I dream about him it just involves spending time with him nothing else. Sometimes the things we give that are free we do not value but are, well to me, are priceless.

if people want to get presents, ask them for mothercare/toysrus/boots gift vouchers - when you have her/him home you will know better what you need
Some of the things you think are going to be great are a useless waste of money and somethings are worth triple their monetary value to you.
My best ever thing is the video monitor we have. One of the things i really loved before she was born was a pram wrap in the shape of a star. It was i think about £30. Well, she hates it, and wont wear it!
