being spoilt
why do parents worry about spoiling their kids, im only a teenager and ive been spoilt my entire life, and ive turned out ok, i dont throw tantrums if i cant get something, i accept that i cannot have it for whatever reason and move on. most o the time when im visiting my dad in england i get what i want. as a thank you i do well in school and have never rebelled against my parents, so why not spoil them?

Well I suppose the only difficulty might be if you fell on hard times .... how would you react, because at the moment you have never known real hardship. However I think there is spoiling and spoiling, it seems they have taught you responsibility and other things, so maybe you are not quite at spoiled as you think you are.
I don't think I'm spoilt. We were never wealthy, but my parents always tried to give me the best they could afford, and if I wanted something they always tried their damndest to provide it. However, I have always been aware that the luxuries I got had to be worked hard for by my parents, and that nothing comes free. Sometimes I did have to go without, but in the long term, it didn't cause any lasting damage.
I think there's spoiling and spoiling. You sound OK, Kitty. Your parents, I think, like to indulge you with a few niceties because they love you, maybe don't see as much of you as they'd like, and in turn you show your gratitude.
Truly spoilt is the child who expects to have everything they want as a matter of course, no matter who has to suffer for it, as long it's not them - a horrible sort to know. I think that's what parents are frightened of turning their children into. Yours don't appear to have any problems there.

I agree there are different types of spoiling. As the youngest child and only girl, I was very indulged and fussed over by everyone, parents, grandparents and older brothers, but only while i was little. I remember my Mum telling me that although the family loved me very much, I had to realise that the whole world did not revolve around me. By the time i was a teenager, I was totally un-spoilt.
those are pretty damn good answers, i have been through some tough times.............i think, sometimes we were so low on money we had to chip in for the groceries, but thats about it, ive never went without, but thats coz my mums like, superwoman, she does so much for us, and i dont even know how to turn on the washing machine!
