I think this is a bit of a long shot but is anyone aware of any websites which list the medicines you can and can't use in pregnancy? I'm coming down with a cold and have a terrible sore throat but I went to the chemist after to work and can't use the usual lozenges I buy and have had to get Strepsils which I've never found very good. I thought it's be useful to have a list so I didn't have to keep going into pharmacies and ask every time what I can use!!!

I sypathize- I had a dreadful cough during my first pregnancy and was terrified of taking anything, even paracetomol. I wouldn't risk any drug, but with a sore throat I'd gargle with diluter tcp or something like that. Stresils are useless. If it gets too much to handle go to the doctors.
I'm sorry I don't know any sites, even homeopaths seem unsure about taking during pregnancy otherwise I'd recomment Kali Bich.-brilliant for sore throats.
Good luck in your search ,and pregnancy.

Thanks anyway ganesh! The sore throat is better now but my nose is absolutely streaming and i'm really bunged up. I know I can take paracetamol but not aspirin or Ibruprofen but I think a website would be really helpful that lists all the branded products which were safe or not rather than have to check each product individually to see what ingerdeints are in it. You could have headings for different ailments, followed by the safe and unsafe products - maybe I should set one up, I'm sure it'd be very popular!
The medicines.org.uk website lists copies of patient information leaflets (yuo'll need to click on the 'emc' tab on the home page) along with all information about what ingredients they contain as well as side effects and use with pregnancy etc. Also the BNF.org.uk website has a lot of useful information about various drugs
probably won't find anything like this because there is such a small number of medicines which are licensed to be safe to use during pregnancy.i had same problem few months ago.just used ex strong hall's sweets for stuffy nose and had glycerin, lemon and honey mixture(remedy from chemist with all natural ingredients) in glasses of hot water with lots of extra honey for sore throat.made symptoms just about bearable whilst cold was really bad.you can take paracetamol but i was the same as yourself and didn't want to take any.
