Thanks for your replies everyone. I didn't mean to come across so prejudiced and I really didn't describe them properly. The next district is an extremely rough area that is rife with drugs and crime. So as you can imagine the women/girls that attend the groups are clad in track suits, covered in tattoo's and piercings, swear at and hit their children in public and openly smoke cannabis. I neither blend in nor would want too! Thanks for the suggestions though, I'll definitely give them a try x
For crying out loud... why does a question have to fit everyones definition of being absolutely politically correct when all that's asked for is some advice. .. this mother of 3 is 22 years old and asking for guidance on one of life's problems. Providing clear, valid suggestions is all she asked for... in my opinion...
I totally agree with you Clanad. She is lonely and depressed and instead of support and understanding she receives criticism for the way she worded her question.
PC gone mad!
See if you can get in touch with either the National Childbirth Trust or Meet-a-Mamma,they will be able to put you in touch with any local groups that meet up. I belonged to the NCT and it was a lifeline to me,without them I would have gone mad!
I am still good friends with some of the mums 10 years later!
Just wanted to send you a big hug xSx......been there :o)
Have you tried various internet places to get things moving?
Hitched has a baby and child section which is very active and they even meet up from time to time with or without children for a get together.....

to name a couple. You may well find like minded mums in your own area who are simply looking for a bit of simple friendship. I found some of these sites invaluable in the earlier days just for friendship, especially as I was unsure about venturing into that big horrible city!!
