I am just back from Wassenaar, they had a very well stocked supermarket and chemist, my 2 are well past the baby food stage, but I know for certain they had Heinz products, because I bought some soup and ketchup! They seemed to stock a lot of familiar brands, although I think that they were more expensive. Wassenaar is not a very big place though, so I am sure that the main cities will be even more well stocked and Holland is not a big place. Is there some reason that you can't take some with you?
I am pretty sure that I saw taxi's at the station, but the buses are very easy, the buses all leave just outside the railway station and were very modern, can't remember if they were the low ones that you can push the buggy on though, as I said my kids are now past that stage. Very easy to get about by public transport. Presume that you are flying into Shipol - you get the train direct to Leiden from the airpost (we passed through on the way from Leiden to Amsterdam). Then the buses seemed to be very frequent. You wait by the information boards and they show you which stop to go to for your bus and the buses appear at one of about 8 stances. We were at the Duinrell camp at wassenaar. All the facilities were really clean and overall things were quite cheap. If you are looking for places to eat, the pancake houses are very good and do food other than pancakes. Most other food tends to be fried and then smothered in Mayonaise or Marie Rose Sauce! Only downside is that the majority of Dutch children tend to be very immature and rowdy - they tend to rule and are not very well disciplined, but I suppose it depends on what you are used to! Hope you have a great holiday - if you need to know anything else, give me a shout.
I know where you are coming from Paulos - my first son would only eat heinz 4 month apricot custard, abour 3 varieties of the powdered food that you add boiling water to and muller rice. It was a nightmare to get him to eat anything else and when you are on holiday, you want to relax and enjoy it not be stressing on whether your child is eating enough. If it is any comfort, when he got to about 2 and half and was a big strapping lad, we plucked up the courage to be harsh and not give him favourites (which was a bit expanded by this point, but not much) after about a day of only milk, he gave in and helped himself to my husbands spicy beans - he will now eat virtually anything as long as it is not bland - he wont touch rice pudding at all. - but he loves curry or chili! My younger son was great as a baby and would absolutely anything including minestrone soup etc. but now he likes plain food. Maybe there is a secret, but I am afraid I don't have it! have a great holiday.
