Im off to take my 12 week old for her 2nd lot of vaccinations soon. A friend of mine has recommended giving her a dose of Calpol before we go. She used to always do this with her two boys (now both grown up) and she believes it has always helped with having the injections.

Has anyone else ever done this?

hi i was told to do this by my health visitor. give it her as you leave the house, cause it takes a while to kick in. so by the time she has had her injection the calpol should be in her system
i had it ready for after the jab but little CRX never needed it. What i did do when he got the jab was have his bottle ready and distract him with his milk or his dummy.

it is a good idea though, he had calpol 20 mins before they popped his elbow back the other week to make the pain slightly less.
hiya psychick,
after baby gaga had her injections the health visitor advised me to go home with her and give her a dose of calpol.
she said it may help with any pain/discomfort baby may feel as an after effect.
hope this helps. radio

Thank you ladies.

I Shouldve been giving her a dose instead of posting this me thinks lol Im only a 5 minute walk from the doctors so could give her a dose 15-20 minutes before we leave. Her injections were just before lunch and she hasnt been right since :( She is either crying or sleeping, not like her at all!!

After her 1st jabs 4 weeks ago, I gave her some calpol after just in case abd it was all she needed. This time she really is different. Although shes had no temperature, Ive given her calpol as something clearly isnt right with her from the way she is.

How much calpol can they have at 3 months? Is it still 1.25ml or does it go up to 2.5ml?
is it the paracetomol? Not the ibuprofen one.

the standard calpol with paracetomol is one dose of 2.5mls for a baby 2-3 months old and weighing mroe than 4kgs

I hope she feels better soon hun.

Hmmm.....it is the paracetamol one but on the prescription it says 1.25ml. She is 3 months on Sunday so there will be no harm in giving her the dosage for a 3 month old now.

She seems to have perked up a bit now thankfully, shes watching tv with her big sister lol
Wow, has it been 12 weeks already?? Corrr!

Hope she's better now psychick :-)

You've just reminded me- Mini Boo has to have her MMR booster next week along with a pre-school check, I'm dreading it, she's gonna scream the place down and I go all teary over it, I'm such a sap!

I know Boo, shes not a newborn anymore :( lol

When my eldest had her preschool boosters I was dredging the fact she had to have an injection in each arm. I thought after the first one, theres no way shes going to let the nurse do the second. I couldnt have been more wrong! After the first injection, she rolled up her sleeve ready for the next!!! Hopefully mini boo will do the same lol
Psychick. I didnt know you had a new baby honey.

Well done and congratulations.
