Feeling low...
I'm nearly 6 months pregnant with my 2nd child. The pregnancy is going really feel, and the baby is in perfect health. But i am not. I've been feeling really low lately. I've suffered frm depression in the past, but thought it was all done with. Having a baby should be the happiest time of any woman's life, but i'm scared. Scared i'm not going to cope. I feel like a total faliure right now. I dont even want to get out of bed most mornings. I don't know what to do...

Firstly dont feel pressured to feel happy because you are pregnant, it may be that being pregnant is whats making you feel this way. Your body is experiencing a rush or hormones and changes that it can find hard to cope with.
May people hear about postnatal depression but antenatal depression is also quite common.
Firstly, speak your GP or midwife asap and explain your fears and concerns and how you are feeling, please make the effort to speak to them.
Most mums feel scared at the prospect of giving birth and coping, thats natural but it shouldnt make you feel so bad.
I have used the ivillage boards for almost 3 years now and have found lots of support for various things over the years. I had no experience of depression but heres a link to their antenatal depression board. Im sure someone there will be able to offer advice as well. http://messageboards.ivillage.co.uk/iv-ukpbcwa nd
Good luck and best wishes for your pregnancy.

it may help to join your relevant mums due board as you will see exactly how others are feeling about the impending arrivals too.
I joined my mums due board back in october 2004. It evolved in a mums club when the babies were born and weve had great fun with it. We are just organising a 2nd birthday meet for all the babies and yet we all live at different ends of the country.
I hope you find it welcoming and that you make many friends, as i have. x

I'm 17 and pregnant - i can't describe how nervous and scared i first was.But my mam helped me through things a lot and actually my gran did too - i underestimated just how much she did help me and of course the people on AB are kind souls too. Take each day as it comes and focus on your little baby. xx
