Thanks everyone for yor advice and support esp Red for the contraction timer!
I went to the hospital at 9 on tuesday night, 13 hours after my 1st contraction and was pleased to be told I was already 4cm, contractions were between 3-4mins apart so was taken away for an epidural (which was amazing when it worked, but needed lots of top ups!) I got to 6cm by 1.30am wednesday, and had my waters broken to speed things along, then by 7.30 was at 10cm and told to push which i apparently did for 2hrs but i cant rememeber much and have been told I talked all kinds of nonsense whilst v.high on gas and air!! At about 10am Wednesday I had a consent form thrust infront of me and was told I was probably going to have a caesarean, but after a lot more drugs I gave birth to an amazing baby girl via forceps at 10.32 she gave everyone a bit of a scare as she was completely purple and had the cord wrapped around her neck, arms and ankle as well as meconium in the water.
we're both came home at 1pm today and are all healthy now if a little sore and shocked!!
she weighs 7lbs 10 and we're thinking about calling her Nancy Scarlett, she's got lots of fair hair and dark blue eyes. I cant stop watching her but I'm gonna try having a sleep now - something I havent done since monday night!!
I go all broody each time another one comes along, then I remind myself that they'll soon be 3 n half like Mini Boo is at the mo and well....anyhoo, best not to scare you yet!!
Congratuations to you and your family and a big massive welcome to the world to your new little 'un.
well done you! that was quite an ordeal for both of you, so glad all was OK!
try and sleep whenever baby is sleeping and dont feel that you have to accept visiotrs when youre tired. Its easy to run on autopilot for a few days but it certainly takes it toll so dont overdo it.
Im so pleased for you, congratulatiions to you and Mr K8 and welcome to the world baby Nancy, another lovely name making a return.
so who's gonna start the run of baby boy arrivals!?
xx
ps. I need my glasses on! i read the heading as another 'grrrrr' and though it had been a false alarm for you lol
I have to say I skipped the part about the labour but I'm rubbish like that, however, my squimish tum aside, congratulations to you and your family and welcome to baby Nancy.
