Just out of interest, I know some of the old wives tales but does anyone know the different signs between a boy or girl whilst pregnant or can you really not tell?

I'm in my 17Th week & absolutely dying to know whether i's a little girl or boy! x

Some say you tend to be sicker with a girl. It was true for me. I puked constantly with my daughter right up until I was about 8 months. With my son's I was still sicky but it was mainly gagging and only lasted for about 2 months.

it was right about me having a girl!!

I'm having a GIRL - lol.
I think I'm going to have to wait until my scan in a couple of weeks as I'm driving myself crazy, no it's a boy.. No it's a girl.. GRRR x
Whether you can tell or not from various "signs" is open to debate. The main thing is that the child is healthy, not whether it's a boy or a girl. I wish you the best of luck with everything.
its all a bit of fun, though the ones that were right for my two kids were

extra weight all over - boy
on bump - girl
fat nose - boy
crave sweet - girl
crave savoury - boy
hair thickens - boy
lank hair - girl
skin clearer - boy
spots - girl

chinese predictor was right with mine too.
Probably a coincidence but I think a neat bump at the front is a girl and more spread round the back is a boy !
It's usually right. It was with me.

I wish for health over anything & I'm doing everything myself to contribute. Regardless whether it is a boy or girl I will love him or her with all my heart.

I'm more inquisitive than anything else & just a bit of fun to see if anyone else had certain signs.
Oh redcrx, we posted at the same time. Glad we agree about the bump !!
K82, what are you hoping for ? I had a scan at 17 weeks which showed I was having a girl. I was overjoyed as I was desperate for a girl.
Question Author
Thanks Redcrx, it's looking more & more like a girl lol! x
My experience contradicts that of jillius.
I had neat bumps at the front with my boys and one that was more spread out with my daughter.
I didn't have morning sickness with any of mine.

I guess you'll have to wait for the 20 week scan or wait until the little un puts in his/her appearance!
K82...easy ....without all that me3dical paraphernalia.

Lie on bed with pregnant abdomen exposed. Husband/partner..suspend a ring on a piece of cotton over said abdomen.
If the ring, suspended. makes a circle....it is a girl, if it moves in a stright line it is a boy.
Fool proof.

Jillius, I don't know, I couldn't chose.. I would honestly love both eventually as this is my first. We've done names for girl or boy so I guess we'll see in a couple of weeks. I'm in my 17Th week, I wonder if I should bring my scan forawrd!! I'm just dying to know! Congratulations on a girl, that's fantastic news x

Where's a bed at work when you want one?! I'm on my back later & for pure medical purposes!
redcrx thats really strange, cos in my part of the world we say you carry out front for a boy, and that was right for me. You couldnt tell i was prgnant apart from behind or anywhere apart from my basketball style bump. I never had any outbreaks with my boys though and my friend who carried girls at the same time as me suffered with terrible spots and a big fat bum too lol
I have seen photos of my mum when she was pregnant with me and she was massive all over she looked like a beach whale but she had no sickness at all.

My friend was told all the way through her pregnancy by the doctors that she was having a boy and then when the time came a little girl popped out. lol

good luck. xx
at the end of the day, it was all just a bit of fun for me. I waited til each were born before finding out but enjoyed guessing. Mind you i still though my second was a boy even though all the old wives tales said girl. I even had "his" name ready.
Everyone said they thought I'd be having a girl with my second but I had a feeling it would be a boy and only had a boys name. I carried the same with both sexes bar the sickness.
My mum said she just knew I was a girl all the way through the pregnancy.

Said I used to drive her crazy at night coz I was always poking her with my feet. lol
My two boys were both carried out front and high - the midwife was impressed with how perfectly round the bump was! It actually looked like I had a medicine ball stuffed up my jumper.

So I don't think there is any way to tell - I always "felt" that they were boys though and everyone kept saying they were as well - even the guy serving in the office canteen.

I didn't find out in advance - in our health area at the time you only got a dating scan unless there were any issues and they also had a policy not to tell you anyway.

Its better to have the surprise........honest ;o)
They told me when I had my 12 week Nuchal scan, they were 90% sure I was carrying a boy and this was confirmed at my 20 week scan.

I've been told if you hold a ring or needle suspended from a piece of sewing thread you can tell the sex. If it swings side to side, you're having a boy and if it travels in a circular motion, then it's a girl.

When I tried this, it went circular for a irl, so probably not accurate. Going by Redcrx's list, I have the traits which means boy. My skin is clear, I'm off sweet things, in favour of savoury, but have heard the opposite, that if you're all bump, then it's a boy, which I am.
