ex partner is threatening to empty the house
28 Answers
Hi my ex partner walked out on me and my 3 children (1 is his) about 6 weeks ago. He is now threatening to empty the house of everything he put any money towards. I had everything in the house (he is not on the tenancy) before he moved in with us but we did replace the bedroom furniture together. The main things that he wants is the tv and ps3, the ps3 came with my mobile contract and my daughter plays on it. Does anyone know where i stand legally?????

To the OP, sorry your ex is being such a brat, he must be related to mine. He tried the exact same thing, I just told him no!
As has been mentioned, is he paying child support? If no then get on to that straight away, by today's standards, if he is working and has not paid...

Thankyou for your quick answers, sorry Jeza but this is very true. The mobile contract is in my name and i have always paid the bill but for the rest of the furniture we bought together; i think the tv we got on his catalogue. I don't want him to come to the house and start kicking off as it will scare my 3 girls, I have already taken his personal stuff to a friend of his to pass on.

Do go the CAB they were a great help to me, oh and keep a note of any correspondence from him too [be it texts, emails or phone-calls]. He may well be entitled to some reimbursement but any guy who wants to take a telly from his own kid can and will get more childish in his demands [IMO].
Good luck

change the locks - do it now!!! he has left the property and you do not want him back in. that is the most important thing - and tell your kids not to open the door under any circumstances. then, make him get a court order to get any stuff. until then, forget about it. but....change the ruddy locks asap!!!!!
