My Dads 85 and still keeping himself healthy with walking holidays and does volunteer driving for Community Care. I often joke most of his passengers are younger than him.

I like and respect my Dad. Wasnt always the case. I grew up in a ridiculously strict religious upbringing and going to church was more important than how I'm doing at school etc. TBH my parents were just trying to bring me up with values that were important to them - I can see that now.
i've just dropped my dad off at Hospital wih my mam half an hour ago - he's to have a CT scan because he's had two seizures and has fainted twice in the past 24 hours. I love my dad and I'm sitting here a bit scared, hoping this thread isn't an omen...
Not seen mine for 22 years, mother and him divorced. He saw my eldest but not the other 4. Wrote him a letter when expecting the second time saying could we be friends and understood why he couldn't live with mother, he couldn't even bother to reply. His loss, missed out on grandkids and now great grand kids and more on the way. Not seen my older half sister in that time either, didn't fall out, not really sure why.
Misky, I hope your dad will be okay, my heart goes out to you and your family. The waiting is the worst, keep strong.

hugs xxx
The best day of my life was when my father left home when I was 13. He used to beat me black and blue and was a kiddy fiddler.............
i love my dad....he is a loving, practical bloke who accepts me for who i am and loves me regardless. my mother, on the other hand, beat the living daylights out of me as a child and employed psychological warfare as her preferred method of communication. i do still speak to her/see her, but i will never forget/forgive or have the relationship i want as a result. but, you can't have everything in life x
I only got on with my old man once I settled down and got married, he wasn't too keen on me "pissing my life and money up the wall" when I left school.

Looking back I suppose he was right, not that I'd ever tell him!
Adored my dad. He could do no wrong in my eyes. It was a hard few years after he died.
My dad is rocking. As much as I moan about him I wouldn't change him for the world. Although I'd rather have taken my mums looks. They were like Thr real life Fred and Wilma flinstone.
You're a very attractive girl, Evian.

My dad used to make me laugh. I'd go and meet him the pub and he'd ask what I'd like to drink...'Vodka a lemo please' and he'd always ask 'do you want a packet of crisps' ....Errrrrrrr, no, I'm in my 30's!!
Ah, that's sweet thanks Ummmm. I wasn't fishing there, promise!

Your Dad sounds a bit like mine. In the spring he'll surprise me with boxes of Cadbury cream eggs cos I liked them when I was little. Bless him.
I think any male can sire a child, but it takes a man to be a father. My dad was a useless ******.
My dad was very strict when I was growing up. i wasn't allowed to go out anywhere and he forbid me to go to a nightclub for my 18th birthday. I said I was going whether he liked it or not and hit me. We still have words now but I love him to bits. He's going to be 70 on 12 October.
my Dad was the most amazing person that ever walked this earth. He died 2005 and I miss him every day.
I love my Dad. I am a real daddy's girl. He is very affectionate and loving and I couldn't be without him.
My dad died two years ago, I thought the world of him, he was brilliant, brought up six children on his own, I still miss him every single day.
