Lacuna...do take care to get all the facts and study everything really well. I had to give up my job to care for my husband for eleven years. I was told I was entitled to a carer's allowance. By the time they had faffed about adding and taking away I was awarded £1 a week.
There were other benefits we could have applied for but being green I didn't find out until after he died.
All the best...it's not easy. x

There is also a benefits checker to fill in and see that you are getting all you should be getting. Carers allowance is a working age benefit so you can't get that but you should be able to get attendance allowance which is higher.
