Does Everyone Treat All Their Children Equally Regardless Of Their Circumstances?

A friend of ours was left a substantial amount of money by a relative and wanted to pass on some to their three children. When he was telling us about it he said that he was going to give less to one of them because in his words 'she doesn't need it as much as the other two' which I thought was unfair. Surely they should always all be treated equally no matter what their personal circumstances or else you are favouring one over the other. What do others think?

In fact, it should depend on the situations of the three children. I think it is normal to give more to one of them if he or she really have some problems.
my assets will be equally shared by my children irrespective of their financial circumstances,
@Kassee -I totally agree with you on this one - you may have three or four children all with different needs and should make provision for these needs in your Will -not necessarily in monetary equal amounts but what will benefit them most - a child with a huge mortgage may appreciate a cash benefit -whilst another child struggling with a rental home may appreciate being left a property, while another who has worked all their adult life in your business would get the business - each family has to be looked at individually.
