because fireworks do not like to be played with and they have their own unique way of punishing anyone who plays with them.

Oh one of my neighbours hold the UK record for the least amount of time between sale of fireworks beginning and injury

same day - llater in the afternoon

found a firework 'in the street' and took it to his bedroom 'where it blew up' nearly taking his finger with it

some detail obviously missing there

They're ok because you can light the blue touch paper & immediately stop going to work.

I remember the Jumping Jack that went in our front door and left scorch marks on the hall runner. That was the last time we had fireworks.

Another dangerous thing was daring other kids to run or jump across the embers of the bonfire, not bare-footed of course!
