Has anyone has experience of becoming a DHSS appointee for a family member who has become incapacitated? What is involved and how long does it take?

(Don't know if I've put this in the right category.)

Thank you both for your replies. I had checked out the DWP link,ff,and i have spoken to the ESA people so the process is in motion. Minty, thank you, most helpfull. The only problem might be that our son is in a neurological rehabilitation unit near Salsbury (50 miles away) but I expect we can cross that bridge when we come to it.
tree i'm sure they will accommodate your son's situation, location etc they were very helpful and realistic about the whole state of affairs..hope your son improves with time ...good luck.xx
