Do You Think I Was Punished Too Harshley Or Did I Get What I Deserved ?

I have just been set free after serving 3 weeks punishment, my parents confined me to my room and my bedroom door was kept LOCKED with a key at all times, this is because I got caught shoplifting, I stole a small bottle of vodka so me and my friends could drink ( I am underage ) the shopkeeper called my parents and not the police, my parents said they don't want to see me go to jail so made my punishment as close to prison as possible I had to get up at 7am after a shower and breakfast I was locked back in my room for the rest of the day, I wasn't allowed ANY entertainment, NO tv NO phone etc, I was allowed 2 hours internet per day for good behavouir.
each day I had to write a 6 page essay, lights out and bed 9pm, it was a HORRIBLE punishment I was so so miserable I have lost 3 weeks of my school holiday.
my parents said a severe punishment is necessary to deter me from offending again
is this fair ?

WEll folks, she obviously has not learnt anything so the punishment has well and truly FAILED. If she had been made to apologize, pay back the shop owner through hard work, been shown either in real life or on line what drink can do to people and how small businesses are going under because of shoplifting then she may not have needed to come on here to moan!!

Spend the next couple of weeks showing your parents that you have learned a valuable lesson and that you are maturing.
Then they *may* relent but don't bank on it.
Sneaking out would be just about the most stupid thing you could do.....If I were in their shoes, I'd turn up at the party and drag you out of there at maximum volume and shame you in front of all your friends.

Advice? Well you obviously don't respect your parents or anyone else really and don't want to do as they ask you, so move out, make your own way then they can't lock you up for being a thief and can't stop you attending a party. simple.
Alternatively do as Jack suggests, but I wouldn't hold my breath either.
