My grandson is 8 3/4 yrs old. Hes got most things, so he's asked for clothes or money this Xmas. His parents and other family members have got him clothes, so he has plenty. We are determined not to give money, not at that age anyway. Any ideas out there? Spending about &50, tops.

If you’re concerned that the money won’t be there when he wants it then you’ll need a creative way to keep it for him and how he can access it when he wants to spend it. Kids are over-loaded with stuff at Christmas so he might like the idea of some money to spend later in the year.

Gness??
A fairly inexpensive Lego and put £50.00 in the box. So he has something to unwrap and also the money he wants. I think its niceto receive a gift as well as money. It shows more thought and gives him something to do at Christmas. Most kids like Lego.
I've seen rolled up banknotes in soap, they're usually wrapped in clingfilm.

Not sure about cheques and their dates though.
One year I put the cheque inside a bar of soap

I've heard Australians remark that the British hide their money under the soap.

Good idea Nelliemay!
You use your imagination.....and why would the cheque be wet and slimy?

If using bought soap you heat a slim sharp knife and beginning at the narrow end of the soap make a slit....keep working until you have a gap large enough to accept a folded up small cheque, cling filmed and sealed in a little polythene bag..
Then with the heated knife seal the open end of the soap....

For more fun make your own soap and enjoy encasing the well wrapped cheque in unusual shapes....

Simple.... :-)

And they know what I do so it never takes them long to get the cheques to the bank.......x

Thanks for explanation gness. Your grandchildren are very lucky to have a fun person like you! x
Thanks, Patsy......I have fun with cash too......I once gave five five pound notes to a child. I folded the notes into little hats......drew a rowing boat with five men rowing and with blue tac stuck the hats to their heads....

You can have fun gifting cash to your grandson..... :-)
