Keep yourself to yourself. Don't make eye contact with anyone who may seem suspicious. Talking on the phone to someone will be a deterrent for potential predators.
Even better, walking with someone you know or trust. Alternatives would be to get a taxi or an uber.
Stay in.
Might be an idea to carry an AK47 replica or a big knife, just in case. That should give any potential attackers 2nd thoughts
where are you?
keep to well lit and well used roads x
I advise against the big knife.. A fake gun may get you in trouble but you won't accidentally stab yourself with it so less bad as a knife. Neither are really good suggestions though.. You may not get home you may end up in a cell.
Know the route to take. Keep to well lit areas if possible. Do not use your phone. Keep your bag as concealed as possible. Do not use ear buds, you cannot hear anyone coming with them in. Pretend to be talking on a phone
Carry a rape alarm. This can be used to attract attention, not only for rapes either. You could use it if under attack also.

Carry a massive long key ring to use as a weapon.

An aerosol spray to squirt, assailant might think it is Mace, but lesson number one is RUN!
And with a Russian sounding name, avoid Salisbury in the dark
Try to walk with a confident air.
Reformed muggers say that they could spot potential likely targets.
Prebook a taxi and use a safe word
Strongbox?
Some of my women university students used to tell me they found riding around town at night on a bike (wearing a hood) was the safest way to travel.
It would apply to young men as well, I've never heard of anyone being attacked when riding a bike.
