My great grandmother, Elizabeth Rowe who married Albert Sutton in 1895 in Chorlton Registry Office in Manchester, shown as aged 21.

She is shown on census 1881 as aged 7 years, making her birth in 1874 !
Living at 28 Phillips Street, Hulme, her father being a Policeman.

She died 29th August in 1912, on the headstone in Southern Cemetery shown as aged 39.

I can find no birth certificate for her being born in 1874.

Her mother was Mary Eugenie Rowe born Scott, from Roscommon in Ireland
in 1839.

Could Elizabeth's birth certificate be lost all those years ago, and her age was approximate for her census and marriage and even death documents ?

Any help please.

The birth of Elizabeth Rowe, shown on Finedmypast.co.uk
has her mother's maiden name as Coyle and not as Scott.

This is why I am querying the information of.........
Registered Jan - Feb -March, page 292, volume 8D.
On the 1901 census she is shown as birth in Miles Platting, Manchester.

Mary Eugenie Scott married in West Derby in 1881 so wondering if your GGGrandmother was illegitimate and took her husband's name when she married? If so you're looking for the wrong surname...

Cal - I think you might have the wrong person. The Mary Eugenie Scott you have found was born in West Derby in 1859. This Mary Eugenie was born in Ireland in 1839.
I think it unlikely that her certificate itself is lost since all are recorded in the Indices. I think it more likely that the estimated birth year is wrong. It is possible that she was never registered - although with dad being a policeman that is probably unlikely.

Is it possible that Mary Eugenie was married before and the marriage to Charles is a second marriage - thus her maiden name being Coyle? Have you got a copy of the marriage cert of her marriage to Charles?
Ooooh did't notice that Barmaid :) x
