Dilemma With My Dil
9 Answers
Every now and then the women in our family get together for dinner and a few drinkypoos. That is my two DILs ( not married but been with my sons for years) , their two mothers and their two sisters, my daughter and me. This Christmas season we are planning to get together again and as you can imagine it's not easy to find a date that suits all. One sister can't make it at all ( no big deal) but her sister, my DIL, who has a baby ( my son's, I hasten to add) who will be 5 1/2 months, says she would/could ( although my son is a hands-on father) only come if we go at lunchtime. My other DIL couldn't do lunch due to work, my daughter and I really don't want to do lunch either, her mother probably would, but I don't know about the others. I don't want to make waves with her, I am very very cautious never to put my son in an awkward position, but I feel she should just say she's not coming. Should I just say, when I see her next, I understand you can't come and we'll do lunch another day, or try to convince the others to do lunch. what would you do ?

Her mother and sister probably,( that makes me VERY outnumbered :) ) maybe my daughter if work allows. Anyway, I'll suggest it and see. Thanks everyone. I am probably seeing her tomorrow so will keep you posted as to her reaction. My son does spoil her a bit and has her on a high pedastal, so hope she doesn't get sulky.
series of lunches
my enlarged family is doing this to me
many are called but few are chosen ( Bible that is! NT is it?) is not (*) - is NOT the way forward. My view is - - if you cant be fooged to turn up on the apptd day then go to MacDonalds is a bit unChristmassy
(*) πολλοὶ γάρ εἰσιν κλητοὶ ὀλίγοι δὲ ἐκλεκτοί.
as you would expect
