My friends son is 18yr and is coming to lodge with us when he turns 19. He has autism and is still in full time education.
Does any one if his child benefit stops at 19 and does child tax credits stop at 19 as at the moment his mum receives both. Or does it continue if your in full time education until age 25?
The reasons he is moving out of mums is due to her health and age .

Ok thanks what I really need to know is if child benefit stops at 19 or does it continue until 25 as he will stay in full time education until age 25
My son's child benefit and child tax credits stopped when he turned 20 and he is still at same FE college now with an EdHC plan. I think I had to keep the agencies informed each year. But at 20 they can claim universal credit while still in education and there is also a capability for work benefit form to fill in to see if he is eligible for this also. It is all equivalent to the amount received when they were getting the child tax credits benefit.
To claim child tax credits doesn't the child have to live with the claimant?
I know in Scotland that for student funding parental support continues for students up to 25 unless they are classed as self-supporting eg. married.

Have a look at the funding section of your local college/university.
