It depends on the people concerned. Unfortunately the age gap almost always creates a power imbalance within the relationship. This may create issues . However further down the road the age gap won't seem so extreme. If she is already a strong personality, able to assert herself, it might work out. It's more an issue of the older party has co.mplicated motives, e.g. Wanting a more malleable partner, or lacks emotional maturity. Relationships always carry a risk, you won't know if it was worth the risk until you look back on it.
I can't think that I was treated any differently, Helen. How? I was independent. Ran my own little business. We were equal as a couple. I can't think of any way in which it was different from my marriage to Dave....except he is very much taller so clipping ears is more difficult. :-)
Now you say that JDavis, but why? We've made great friends since moving here but my closest is 18 years older than her husband..not that you'd think to look at her. They are a fantastic couple. Great fun to socialise with and great together. The love, banter and humour between them is a joy. Yet you think they should have married people with the age gap the other way round or the same age. Would that have made for happier marriages for them both?

I am happy gness, the happiest I think I've ever been. Life is still a massive struggle, and we're barely keeping our heads above water. Notice how I said, 'we're' - it's great being in a relationship where my OH actually understands me and my weirdness and physical/mental health issues.
For so long I felt lost and not understood. It certainly wasn't a great combination for me being on AB during that time. It wasn't all bad though :D x
