Travel system v's separate buggy, car seat, carrier

Has anyone got any experience with the travel system or would we be better getting a separate buggy/car seat etc Little one is not due to April so have plenty of time to get it sorted - any helpful advice welcome.

I found the travel system very good its practical and should be less expensive then buying a separate buggy and car seat, the car seat usually only does for about six months so you will need to get a separate one then anyway but the travel system one I had was good Ive seen a lot of weird buggys recently cant understand the point of them but I will be using the travel system again when I am due in may.I wouldnt go spending a fortune either way as soon as my daughter was one I got a lightweight stroller.

I agree with trionam, using travel system is good as you can take the sleeping baby out of the car and clip into the pushchair without needing to disturb him/her. If you get one that is a pram and pushchair, that works well also as like the baby car seat, you get limited use from a pram and at least if it can be used as a pushchair you will get more use from it. Lightweight strollers are must more useful in the long run, although some are not suitable until 8-9 months old. Consider a pram/pushchair that 'umbrella folds' as this takes up much less room, particularly if you are taking it in the car. Mamas and Papas Pliko with the Viaggio car seat are good, although a little more expensive than some others you can get. Good luck and enjoy your baby!

We ended up getting Mamas n' Papas pliko pramette..it's fantastic! Try and get yourself to a baby show - these are usually advertised on the Bounty website, which I'd also recommend for both you and your partner to use during your pregnancy for advice... We got our travel system for �100 less than M&P's at the baby show (held at the N.E.C) or try www.kiddycare.com - they too have some good offers.

Just be aware that if you have a smallish car, the pram takes up a lot of space in the boot.

Definitely get the travel system. It is cheaper, and you cannot overestimate the usefulness of just lifting the whole seat out of the car and putting it into the buggy to carry on moving your little one around. It saves loads of time farting round with straps. Especially, as Sparkles3 said, when your baby's asleep.

Our baby is just coming up to 18 months, and is only just now growing out of the car seat so you will get loads of use out of it.

I don't drive, so if hubby has taken the baby to nursery in the morning he leaves the seat and the pram there. Then, if I decide to walk the baby home in the pram I just fit her into the car seat in the pram, or I can take a taxi and put the pram in the boot. If the seat didn't fit into the pram, I would have major problems getting it back home if I walked.

Gosh nicecupoftea what was the make of your travel system ? I had the motghercare travel system and I completly agree that they are very useful but my son grew out of his when he was seven mts and he is small in height and weight for his age, the ONLY disadvantage of the travel system is the amount of space it takes up in the car and we have an estate...... (in this case I also opted to buy a buggy just for when we are going to stay away)
