could any1 tell me how much housing benefit i would get. im a single parent of 1 child and would like somewhere of my own just wondering how much help i would get.

It depends on your circumstances.

Do you work? If so how many hrs?
What kind of accomadation do you live in?

if you speak to your local council they should tell you the maximum amount of housing benefit they will pay but the above answer is also correct because you would have to fill in a housing benefit form and they will then take all your income into account including income support, child tax, child benefit etc they look at all your income basically and asscess you that way, you sometimes have to pay somthing towards your rent if it 's out of their maximum amount awarded. good luck

I am single mother to two children and i live in a three bedroom house, i think i have the maximum housing benefit as i dont pay rent or council tax, hope this helps

Get a job and stop scrounging off the tax payers. I am sick of reading of people like you who expect the government to pay your way.

Whatever you get will be standard and minimal.

There is a reason people like me think badly of people in council houses and estates and it is because you get pregnant and expect us to pay for it- i make exception for those who are in poor health and do not expect a house just because they got knocked-up.
