I recently filled in a competition form to win a venture photo session and prints. Surprise surprise I didnt win but did get an offer worth 125 of a session and a framed print.
I have since found that it is a standard offer on the website so thought Id ask anyone if theyd used them and what their thoughts were.
Im a bit confused as they say that the offer is for photos of whole family only and that both parents have to be present at viewing of pictures or voucher will be invalid. My partner is on call 24/7 so may not be available at the time. I can only see this as some sort of con to get more money from us.
what have your experiences been?

We had it done Red.

Again we got the 25 thingy, stupidly not realising how much a decent set of pics would be............

Anyway, the photo session itself was great fun, can't fault that. The disappointment came when we went to the preview and they show us the photos and tell us the various costs, which were wayyyyyyyyyyy out of out budget :-(

We ended up buying just 3 standard sized photos, whilst they are lovely ,they set us back nearly 400. The set I'd really set my heart on was over 900.....lol

I'd say go for it, but be prepared to either spend a fortune or brace yourself to being really ruthless and only getting a few.
That reason is why i havent used my voucher, nor my pixi-foto voucher! We have some smashers of Emmy we take ourselves so we wont shell out that much!

thanks Boo, I hadnt realised theyd be so expensive. I knew theyd be pricey because they dont give any prices on webiste but 900!!??? not a chance. id rather spend the money on a holiday and capturing those memories to be honest.

I have had the pixi photos done at boots twice and they werent too bad price wise and we got many pics for our money so could send them to all the relatives who asked for them.

I think, like you Boobesque, that the voucher shall be un-used.
We went to Venture and had a fantastic time. We spent 1500 (!!!) and yes, we both had to be at the viewing, but the children were not invited - I agree, I think it's a hard-sell type thing.

Some local photographers now offer the Venture-style photos at a fraction of the cost, so if you like the style but not the cost, it might be worth looking around your own area.

That said, the big picture we bought is beautiful, and we don't regret the cost at all. If you treat it as a once-in-a-lifetime, I'd recommend it.
P.S. watch out if you do book - if you make an appointment for viewing and then have to cancel due to your partner being called out, you'll be charged a cancellation fee.
what if you are a single parent?? thats awful
Question Author
mycats, the wording is 'both parents (if aplicable) must attend viewing to validate the voucher'

Xanderma, im sure your photo is wonderful but I hate having my pic taken at the best of times so would not be spending that amount of money on a photo with me in it lol

I shall take a look at local studios and see what else is on offer.
Hi

Maybe you could get really nice pics done at a local College as practise for photography students?
I am due to pick up my album of photos from Venture, redcrx..it is expensive (just over a grand) BUT we didn't have any wedding photos done when we got married 2 years ago..we don't regret that, but thought as we could afford it now we would have some lovely pics done of us and the family.

I used the voucher to go towards a photo of the children for my mums 60th birthday present.

I wasn't disappointed at the viewing..in fact I burst into tears with emotion! I hate having my photo taken, but have to say they picked out the best ones (25 out of over 100 taken) so I wasn't in shock over how awful I looked ;o)

It isn't something I would do often ~ in fact I may never go again, but I am pleased I did it the once.
ah right, thanks red :-)

My sister and her man paid 1000 for pics of them and their new baby!! I was shocked lol but they are beautiful
we have been once a year since our son was born in 2003, only been able to afford the 25 offer each time exept this time. we won the 125 voucher for free. whahoo!. so we put a bit mor to and got 800 woth we will still be paying for them next year. we went to the shipley branch first and loved it until the hard sell came. way above our leauge then, but we now go to doncaster, and they are sooooo much nicer. no hard sell at all. even with our free session and 7 x 5 frame all free there was no preasure to buy more. But we did anyway. So to top it of go to doncaster, just get your 25 our for your 125 voucher and enjoy one a yaer for a lovely 7 x 5 print and a goo experience.
