I just wanted to remind people of how our government and society let this lovely little boy and his family down...His killers are free men, living normal lives with maybe there own families now, given jobs new identity's,money a home...Whilst us law abiding, honest hard working people of this great country get taxed even in Death...Who knows eh! they could be your new neighbours, maybe your daughters new boyfriend, maybe even your new boss....This is the injustice bestowed upon us...

I find this subject a difficult one, if any murderers were ripe for rehabilitation, surely it is children that commit these crimes. Then on the other hand, to be kidnapping and murdering a toddler at this young age, they must have something rotten and wrong inside of them. I believe they blamed the video nasties for their actions, which again I dont believe.
I will never agree with the death penalty, just as I dont believe in your misinterpretation of an "eye for an eye".

I agree with Goodie.
I don't believe the 'video nasty' defence either. Nor do I agree witht he death penalty, as not only is it no punishment or rehabilitation (obviously) it isn't a deterrent either.
If Jamie had been my child I would have wanted the murderer to serve their time. Death would be too easy.

I feel sorry for the McCanns, Goodsoulette: probably less than perfect parents, but aren't we all. But nobody goes on in the same way about how dare Jamie's mother let him out of sight for a second; instead she's seen (quite rightly, imho) as the injured party. And yet it seems it's often the same people taking these very different views. I just wondered why.
A big part of my question was the fact that they have new lives and identities...I think we should have a right to know who our daughters may be dating, who the father of our grandchildren could be,who could be living next door to us!!! I think if they were 'Normal' then most normal people wouldnt be able to live with such a memory, such nightmares...Jamies face must be in their everyday thoughts...most 'normal' people would have topped themselves by now...
