Reduced nursery payments

Me and the mrs both work full time and our daughter is in full time nursery. I understand that when she turns 3 she gets a certain amount of session free per week. Does anyone know how this works? The nursery said something about the money doesnt come through straight away and we may have to wait for it. She turned 3 at the end of March.

I don't know about having to wait for the money to come through but the free sessions at nursery will be the equivalent of what your daughter would do if she attended a school nursery. I take it she attends a private nursery so instead of paying for a full day you will have two and a half hours a day taken off. Maybe the reduction will be backdated and you will get the money back later, I would ask to speak to the nursery manager. Bear in mind that if your daughter was to attend a school nursery, you would not get funding for the private nursery the school would get it instead

It's called Early Years Funding and should come into effect the term after their third birthday, ie, the summer term which has just started for your daughter ( my youngest is the same age ). I think the funding amount is �9.00 per session for up to five sessions per week, anything above this will still be due from you but it certainly does help keep the cost down

If your daughters birthday was before Easter then you should be getting the free sessions, your nursery should have asked you to fill in a form and provide a copy of your daughter's birth certificate this is to show that she does attend the nursery and she has turned three. When my son was in nursery the manager deducted the free sessions and I paid the difference, also don't forget that if you are claiming Tax Credits and your nursery fees drop by more than �10 a week you have to inform them, I think I was just under the �10 by a matter of pennies.

from age 3 the government fund i think its 15 hours a week... my son was in private day care and i would have had to find the difference too....however he was accepted into a county primary nursery 2.5 hrs a day five days a week free every child over 3 is entitled to go to nursery apparently.
