Is there a particular distinction between the two or is it more down to personal preference?

Which do you prefer.

Definitely Miss for me :)

Im a Ms, but thats because im divorced but still have my maiden name. If i called myself Miss it wouldnt seem right
I'm very happy to be a Mrs. I worked very hard for it !!!
sorry, that shouldve read "married" not "maiden"

Bit long in the tooth now but still insist on Miss LOL
I'd be a miss if I'd never married.. now I'm divorced I'm in limbo. I hate Ms.. everyone thinks I'm gay, or into women's lib, and I find myself announcing, "I'm divorced!"

but I don't want to be Mrs (whatever our name is) because I'm not married to Mr (whatever our name is).

if you see what I mean.
I'm a Mrs... but that is down to sheer laziness on my part... I couldn't be bothered to change all my stuff when I got divorced (errr....like over 20 years ago!). Anyway, I was proud to take my father-in-law's surname - he was a wonderful guy and I greatly admired him, plus it was a heck of a lot better than my maiden name !
Ms was invented in the early 70s precisely to solve this dilemma: so you could give yourself a title without telling the world whether you had a husband or not.
So you are Mrs Jugglerings, oo ere yes marm lol
Miss for me too .

Ahhh I thought it was a choice for single ladies between miss and ms, didn't know it can be for a married lady to...makes more sense now.
Both "Mrs" and "Ms" are abbreviations of "Mistress" which is simply the female version of "Mister", like "waiter" and "waitress".
I am still mrs divorced a while ago, cant be arsed changing it,when they always assume i am a mrs!!
I'm a Ms, I am divorced but kept my married name :o)
Definitely Ms - couldn't bear to have anyone think I am still married to that b.....d!
Either.

Not fussy.
I'm a Miss. Not bothered who knows that I'm not married. :)
Miss sounds so much nicer than Ms (which sounds like a Mosquito buzzing). Why can't all ladies be called Miss like also men are called Mr whether they are married or not. Having two words for ladies is just sexist and pointless.
When I was single I was Miss, when married Mrs. It seems that Ms is used only by single people. I think we should all be Mrs...or men should be Master when unmarried and Mr when married.
