Does this get paid if u r made redundant? Friend has just lost his job and has no savings so will be claiming benefits, does anyone know if its standard or whether there has to be extreme circumstances? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

You can claim it after you have been claiming JSA for 13 weeks.

if your friends mortgage was taken out after oct 1995 he will have to wait 9 months before he can get any help.he may not get benefits if he has over a certain amount of redundancy pay.the best option is to see the cab they are very helpful

i am in the same boat as your friend i have waited the 13 weeks and got a payment for my intrest but they sent forms wanting to know how much the original mortgage was for and if i had had any extra money on top for home improvements and so on and they will only pay intrest for certain home improvements they agreed to pay the intrest for my bathroom revamp and i have a shortfall of �148 per month to find god knows where its going to come from but at least i am not being reposesed YET oh and they do backdate the claim so any arrears are usuall paid off
