Something on another thread made me think - I can remember when I was very little, although others say that we don't start to remember for several years. I know the things I can remember are from my memory, not received images, as I can remember experiencing them and how I felt at the time.
I remember toddling down the garden and finding the tortoise, I was wearing a pink pram suit and must have been about 18 months old - I remember my father's 40th birthday when I would have been just under 2, he had a cardboard 40 on his cake - I remember my cot in the bedroom at about the same time.
What about you?
I can remember far more than I wish to sometimes. My sister's amazed, I think she thought I was imagining some of it until some older cousins backed me up :o)
Early memories from about 2yrs old include pets, the house, garden.... being taken to the park across a wooden bridge where you could see through the planks to the water below.... getting lost in the library...the girl up the street locking me in her back yard..... and being locked in the outside lav! :o)
snap! when I moved to this house there was an outside loo with no window & it was 3 yrs before I would go in it :o)
I don't mean I didn't go for 3 yrs, lol, there's a bathroom upstairs too!
We lived abroad when I was younger (went when 4 yrs old). I have a very clear memory of driving down to Heathrow, the 747 that we flew on which included a visit to the cockpit. I remember the first time we arrived at our new house and the feeling that I wanted to go home to England very clearly, which means that I can not only remember where I was but also how i felt??
Now, ask me what I had for tea last Friday and........ god knows!
I can remember sitting in my chair (a high chair which folded out to make a low chair with a table in front and colured wooden bead on it) and watching Watch with Mother i.e. Picture Book, Wooden Tops, Bill and Ben, Rag Tag and Bobtail and Andy Pandy. I MUST have been very little to fit in the chair!
Hi boxtops, I'm actually scanning some old photos the now so this is a coincidence. My earliest memory is when I was about 3 and took my wee sis for a walk and ended up a the policestation! We didn;t go far, just up the road but crossed a main road by ourselves and couldn't find the way back! My sense of direction's not improved much btw
I can remember the sound of the air-raid siren, and the all clear siren, I can also remember sitting in my pram outside a shop waiting for my mum and thinking she'd left me. (you know, do I yell now or wait a bit).
