Black Mass (6.66%) from Abbeydale Brewery, Sheffield.
A beast of a brew !
Very dark ruby ale with a rich, creamy head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee and burnt toast. Full bodied and warming with strong flavours of bitter chocolate, fruitcake, raisins and hints of cherries. A lingering bitter finish.
Available at the 'Post Office Vaults', Birmingham, which is a top class Real Ale Pub.
After last weekend's Beer Festival it's back to the Real Ale Pub Beers.
We tried several 'new' Beers along with one of our favourites i.e 'Jaipur' from Thornbridge Brewery.
If anyone else has their own favourite please add it to the Post...
It's not just one Pub Booldawg, there are several to choose from within easy walking distance of each other in City Centre. Always a good choice of Cask Ales
Plenty of good Pubs around London, Rowan and myself are thinking of trying the 'Falcon Inn' in Clapham Junction next time we are down there, not far from where her Mum lives. It's a Nicholson's Pub with plenty of Cask Ales on offer
Redman, the reviews in my link express the beer far better than I could. But my recollection (fuzzy as it may have been) was that the beer was fantastic as was the setting, a lantern lit courtyard underneath one of Bruges cathedrals. It is a very fond memory and I wouldnt want to drink this beer anywhere else, it was the setting and the beer combination. Oh well, will have to go back!!
